Project Insights

Scope of work: Income with our partner Ansaldo Energia provided engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for steam turbine package with generator

and auxiliaries with a capacity of (1× 250 MW) in El ATF 750 MW combined cycle Plant.

Client: Middle Delta Electricity Production Company (MDEPC)

Summary on project: El Atf Combined Cycle Power Plant project was initiated with the objective of delivering a high-efficiency natural gas-fired generation facility to support Egypt’s growing electricity demand. The plant was developed under a comprehensive scope of engineering, procurement, and construction services, culminating in commercial operation by 2010.

The facility comprises two 250 MW combustion turbine generators (CTGs) each paired with unfired heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), which supply steam to a single 250 MW steam turbine unit in a 2×1 combined cycle configuration, achieving a net output of 750 MW. Emissions control is provided by dry low-NOx (DLN) combustors, and the plant interfaces with the national grid via a 220 kV GIS switchyard. Cooling water is sourced from the Nile River with once-through condenser cooling.

Successfully designed and executed to meet stringent performance, reliability, and environmental criteria, the El Atf plant contributes to national power system stability andsupports the utility’s operational goals.
