The Bahr El Baqar Wastewater Treatment Plant is the world’s largest wastewater treatment facility, with a capacity of 5 million m³/day. Developed as part of Egypt’s national water security and land reclamation strategy, the plant treats agricultural and municipal discharge to enable large-scale reuse for irrigation in Sinai.
Delivered in partnership with Acciona Agua and national authorities, the facility integrates advanced sedimentation, filtration, and sludge management systems to ensure environmental compliance and resource recovery.
Bahr El Baqar stands as a global benchmark in mega-scale water infrastructure, demonstrating Egypt’s leadership in sustainable water management and long-term agricultural resilience.
