Project Insights

Scope of work: INCOME partnered with ACCIONA in the development and delivery of the photovoltaic power plants at the Benban Solar Park. The project scope has been fully completed, and ACCIONA is currently responsible for the operation and maintenance of the plants under a long-term O&M agreement extending for 25 years, until 2041.

Project Summary: ACCIONA Energía, through its Renewable Energy Platform Enara Bahrain SPV W.L.L. (ENARA), developed and owns three identical photovoltaic power plants in a 50–50 partnership with its regional partner, Swicorp (Saudi Arabia). The plants have a combined installed capacity of 150 MW (186 MWp) and represent a total investment of approximately USD 180 million.

The projects are located within the Benban Solar Park in Aswan, established by the Egyptian Government, and marked ACCIONA Energía’s first renewable energy project in Egypt. The plants were developed under the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) regime introduced by the Egyptian Administration during Round 2 of the tender launched in October 2016.

Collectively, the plants generate clean energy sufficient to supply approximately 150,000 Egyptian households annually, while avoiding around 297,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year compared to conventional fuel-oil power generation.
