Project Insights
The Central Business District (CBD) is one of the largest Egypt–China strategic cooperation projects. Signed in 2017 and witnessed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Xi Jinping, it is a landmark in international collaboration and urban development.
Scope: strategic partner to China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC); facilitated project development and coordination; and supported financing arrangements through a consortium of leading Chinese financial institutions headed by ICBC.
Project Value: USD 3.8 billion
Project highlights:
● Approximately 2 million m² of built-up area
● 18 landmark towers
● Africa's tallest skyscraper — the Iconic Tower (385–400 m)
● Premium hotels (Raffles and Fairmont), commercial podiums, residential towers, and office towers.
● Central Utility Complex (CUC) that provides utility infrastructure including power, emergency power, chilled water, low current and gas services to all towers.
